Introduction to Encaustic Painting (age 16 & up) Encaustics is an ancient painting medium. Pigmented beeswax, melted on a heated palette, is applied with brushes. It hardens immediately and must be fused with a heat gun. It can be layered, scraped and incised. Also works beautifully with collage. The class is technique oriented, students are free to explore their own imagery and aesthetic. Visit the Cary Arts Center's spring catalogue to register.
